Born in Kampala Uganda Jan 22nd 1972 and granted refugee status in the UK after a Military coup led by Idi Amin in his country of birth.

In 2015 Akbar was one of only 8 recipients of the prestigious “Re-Invest Award” from PM Modi for the promotion and development of GW scale renewable energy in India.
Akbar has held various Government advisory posts in China, India and UAE including 10 years with a Government think tank in Beijing under the late Ambassador Wu Jianmin. Akbar’s work has been focussed on establishing cross border technical and commercial co-operation towards National net zero carbon targets and vision plans.
Outside of his work in the renewables sector Akbar has founded, developed and funded businesses in Real Estate, Fashion, Theatre and Music.
